Woodstock Community Development project

The Woodstock Community Development Project is a partnership between Blenheim Estate, Woodstock Town Council and Community First Oxfordshire. Beginning in April 2021, the project will run for 3 years, initially.

The aim of the project is to work with local residents to support and further develop a vibrant and self-sustaining community. This will be achieved by:

  • supporting existing residents and facilitating interaction (build bridges) between existing and new residents
  • supporting existing and new community groups and activities to meet the needs and enhance the daily lives of residents
  • acting as a link between the local community and Blenheim Estate to help facilitate a positive community experience of development on new housing sites

2021/22 activity

CFO’s community development worker, Kay Sentance, organised/ supported the following.

Launch and embed the project in the community
  • Sustainable Woodstock National Green Week event
  • ‘This is Woodstock Day
  • Winter warmer’ Wassailing event
  • Local school links and connections
  • Oxford School of Drama: exploring collaborations
  • Talks with PCSOs
  • Easter egg hunt
  • Spring Event in the Orchard
Develop initiatives to improve usage of Woodstock community buildings and outdoor space
  • Community Venues Open Day
  • Community Venues Directory
  • Support for management committees
Undertake community development activity with Park View Residents
  • Summer tea-party on the Green
  • Jubilee Party
  • Bulb planting and Easter egg-painting
  • Support for development of a Community Forum
