This free one hour session will take place online on Monday 4th April at 12pm and provides an introduction to Active Listening for charities and community groups.

Active Listening skills can be used to strengthen all relationships – personal, professional and with your community and are integral to employing Asset Based Community Development principles .

In this workshop you will:

  • gain an introduction to active listening and natural listening styles
  • try out active listening skills with others
  • plan community listening initiatives in your local area
  • build your listening and communication skills to find out what matters to your neighbours and what capacities they have to help strengthen community life

The workshop will be held on Zoom with a maximum of 12 people to ensure you benefit from participatory activities

PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) Training

The second training opportunity is an innovative approach to keeping Community Buildings safe and save money!

CFO is inviting ‘Quick Test’ to provide another Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) training workshop.

The training will take place on Thursday 28th April at Yarnton Village Hall OX5 1TF from 1.30pm until 4.30 or 5pm depending on how long it takes to get through the course.

No previous experience is necessary.

The training will help you to understand your responsibilities and you will learn how to carry out your own-

  • Electrical appliance risk assessment
  • Electrical safety checks
  • PAT testing

The course cost is £75 for members of CFO and CFO’s Halls Advice Service and £95 for non-members. Please let me know by April 7th if you want to attend.

Hall committee members in Oxfordshire who have already taken this training have been carrying out their own PAT testing for a number of years now, saving the village hall money and ensuring that it remains compliant and safe.

Here are some comments about the training from past delegates:

”Excellent (morning) & well worth the time spent. Learnt so much more than I thought I would.”

“Exactly what I needed. Clearly and professionally presented. “

Once you have undertaken the training, CFO have a PAT Testing microPAT Package that can be hired out for £20 a week and you can order pass/fail labels as well.

Please contact Tessa Hall e: [email protected] mob: 07595 787104 for more information and to book your place on the course.
