Community transport schemes provide flexible and accessible services for people who have limited or no access to alternative transport. From vulnerable or isolated people who struggle to get out and about, to young people who need to get to school on time – these vital schemes answer unmet transport needs.
Operating in rural and urban areas, there are currently 85+ minibus and car schemes across Oxfordshire, which are mostly run by volunteers, charities, and social enterprises. Browse the directory of transport schemes in your local area, or take a look at our infographic about Oxfordshire’s community transport.
We have supported community transport for over 30 years, and continue to offer guidance to new and existing schemes across the county:
Offering free, expert guidance to schemes of all sizes, we also facilitate community transport network meetings, where volunteers can share and discuss best practices.
We offer free support to schemes who need advice on transport surveys they have built themselves, as well as affordable consultancy to those who want to develop and deliver needs surveys that assess local transport demand and inform suitable transport options.
We work with Oxfordshire County Council to advocate for community transport at a local and national level and support critical initiatives, like free volunteer driver parking in Oxford University Hospitals (OUH).
