Being a volunteer on Cholsey Community Development Trust board has been an interesting and rewarding experience. It is great to play a small part in helping to support the Great Hall and cricket ground events. The facilities are a great asset to the village and it is wonderful to see that they being used so widely by the community be it via CCDT events, or providing a home for village-run clubs, or a hire facility for groups in the local area.
A highlight for me this past year was helping serve at the bar for the return of a village pantomime group at Christmas time. The atmosphere was great and the event was very well supported and received by local community.
Volunteering can take many forms. My recommendation is to be brave and try it. You will be surprised by who you meet, the range of what you can get involved in and the experience and skills you pick up along the way.
