Community Outreach Officer – Smoke Free Oxfordshire
Part-time role (28hrs, 4-days a week) – £24,456 per annum (FTE £30,570) – 1-yr fixed term.
Deadline for applications is 12th March 2026
Community First Oxfordshire is a charity striving for diversity in our small team. If we are delivering services to support all people and all communities, then we need to make sure our team is inclusive. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and ages.
We are looking for someone to lead on and deliver the Smoke Free Oxfordshire outreach work. In this post, you will operate in the community to build connections and work with people to help them begin their journey toward a smoke free life. This will involve mapping activities and planning events where outreach work will be most effective across the county. You’ll have the opportunity to take up MECC (making every contact count) and VBA (very brief advice) training. You will build relationships with Smokefree Oxon and meet regularly to ensure that your role compliments and enhances the services they offer.
About you:
- Independent self-starter with a range of skills, a flexible approach
- A ‘people person’ with the ability to link in and build relationships with all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds
- Confidence to work independently to develop and deliver activity across the county to raise awareness, give advice, and make referrals to the specialist countywide service: Smokefree Oxon.
- Ability to learn from the last year of the programme to inform activities going forward.
- Experience of community development work and/or volunteering or working with community groups and individuals at a hyper local level would be beneficial.
- Training and support will be offered in community development and health promotion approaches – you don’t need to be an expert in everything, as it’s all about your motivation and kindness.
This is a unique learning opportunity into how health (Smoke Free) promotion and community development work can support residents to become healthier. There will be ongoing support from our small staff team at Community First Oxfordshire. We encourage flexible and hybrid working where appropriate. As there is a need to travel to rural and urban communities, many of which do not have public transport, having access to a vehicle is necessary.
